Mockup: Hoverpoint travel check with destination Spain, checklist and Lufthansa battery rules

Taking your drone on holiday? The new travel check tells you what applies at your destination – and what your airline allows when it comes to carrying your drone, batteries and power banks.

What the travel check covers

  • May I fly there? The flight status from the drone rules for 140 countries
  • Registration and competency certificate: whether your EU registration and certificate are valid there
  • Insurance, maximum altitude and weight limits, matched to your drone from the hangar
  • a checklist to tick off everything that needs doing before you leave

Your airline’s rules

Pick your airline from 15 major carriers, from Lufthansa, Eurowings, Condor and TUIfly to Ryanair, easyJet, Emirates and Qatar. You see whether the drone may go in cabin or checked baggage, how many spare batteries are allowed, what applies to batteries over 100 Wh and whether you may use power banks on board. Enter the watt-hours and the number of your batteries, and Hoverpoint checks them against these rules.

Important

Airlines change their rules often, especially for power banks. Every detail links to the airline’s page and the date it was checked; the airline is always what counts. Where a page isn’t clear, there’s a note. The same goes for the rules at your destination: Hoverpoint is a planning aid, not official information.
